Below are some comments from Nelson Newcomers Network members when they were surveyed in 2008:

“I joined Nelson Newcomers Network last year when I first arrived in Richmond. It’s been a really good social network for me, I’ve been to heaps of events and met some really cool people from all walks of life. I’ve got to know some people really well and I am very happy to call them my friends and socialise with them in addition to the Newcomers events. It has made a huge difference to how both myself and my husband have experienced settling in and feeling like we belong here. I’d really recommend it to anyone as it takes the hard work out of meeting new people and making friends and it’s fun.” Linda

“The network is successful because the age group is so varied and interesting. A great idea.” – Val

“We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the company at the Wednesday coffee mornings. It’s a wonderful service you offer for which we are very grateful.” Tom and Mary

“We have met a cadre of friends with whom we socialize a lot, both in the newcomers context and without.” – Mike
